About Jhalak
Hi! I’m Jhalak, a neuroscience student at UCL with a strong interest in STEM. Having studied science myself and experienced different education systems, I know that a subject can feel completely different when it is taught in a way that doesn’t suit you. I want to tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping people understand concepts that initially seem difficult, and seeing that moment when something finally “clicks.” I also love working with younger students and creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace.

I believe every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my lessons to their individual needs, learning style and goals. With a background in Psychology and Neuroscience, I understand how people learn and how to make difficult concepts easier to understand. I have also worked with children with special educational needs, developing patience and flexibility in my teaching approach.
Each lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands, where they are struggling, and what we want to achieve by the end of the session. I then break concepts into manageable steps using diagrams, examples and active questioning, followed by exam-style questions to check understanding and apply what we have learnt.
My lessons focus on genuine understanding rather than memorisation, while also developing exam technique, confidence and independent learning skills.
