About Aakanksha
Hi! I am an Information Technology student at the University of Texas at Austin who is interested in passing on her math knowledge and problem-solving abilities to students. I enjoy taking a difficult task or problem and breaking it down into more manageable steps. I believe that a large part of success is being in a supportive environment, so I focus on building that environment for my students. I love spending time with kids and getting to know students of all ages, and tutoring lets me form those connections while helping them improve their academics. As a tutor, I hope I can be a trusted mentor that students can depend on to strengthen their problem-solving skills and confidence that they can apply their math skills in other parts of their life as well.

- My focus is on building a solid foundation first, ensuring that students thoroughly understand the concepts instead of just memorizing them.
- As for my teaching style, I am patient, adaptive, and an open communicator who personalizes her teaching to each individual student.
- My lessons will usually include concept review from prior lessons before going into step-by-step explanations of new content. Following this will be the completion of practice problems together, before ending off with some independent practice to see the student's content retention.
- My goal with these lessons is for my students to build confidence in their math skills, maintain or improve their grades in school, and gain a strong understanding in various math concepts.
