"With over 20 years of experience teaching and supporting K-12 math teachers, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a passion for making math engaging and accessible. My teaching approach is rooted in project-based learning, combining both concrete and abstract tools to help you build a deep conceptual understanding of math. This strong foundation is key to developing procedural fluency, ensuring that you not only understand how to solve problems but why the methods work.
In each session, we’ll begin with a warm-up activity designed to engage you and prepare for the main lesson. I incorporate real-world scenarios that directly relate to grade-level standards, helping you see how math connects to everyday life. This approach fosters a deeper connection to the material and keeps you actively engaged.
Throughout the lesson, you’ll be an active participant, not just a passive listener. We’ll use a variety of activities that challenge you to think critically and apply what you’ve learned. At the end of each lesson, you’ll complete an exit ticket to reflect on your understanding or any areas where you may need additional support. This gives us valuable insight into your learning progress and allows for targeted adjustments in future lessons. Additionally, we’ll set aside time for you to reflect on your learning journey, helping to reinforce key concepts and build confidence in your abilities.
