About Valentyn
Hi! I’m International Master Valentyn Prokofiev,
a chess player and coach with peak FIDE Elo 2464.
I was 5 years old when I had my first chess lesson, and I immediately fell in love with this beautiful game. Now I’m 20, and chess is still one of the biggest parts of my life. I’m also a university student and a passionate traveler — I’ve already visited 21 countries, so there’s always something exciting going on in my life!
I started coaching in 2021, when I got my first student and quickly realized how much I enjoyed teaching chess. Since then, I’ve worked with students of different ages and playing levels and have gained a lot of experience helping players improve their game.
For me, a good chess lesson is not a boring lecture. I want my students to be actively involved, think for themselves, ask questions, and genuinely enjoy the learning process. I always try to explain ideas in a clear, practical, and engaging way rather than simply giving students a lot of information to memorize.
I also believe that every student is different. That’s why I pay close attention to each player’s strengths, weaknesses, goals, and progress, and try to find the approach that works best for them.
My goal is simple: to help you become a stronger chess player while making the journey enjoyable. Whether you want to improve your tournament results, understand chess more deeply, or simply enjoy the game more, I’ll be happy to help!

My step-by-step coaching method allows you to understand chess rationally, which can really help you organize your chess knowledge, because the whole learning process is very consistent.
My best skill always was openings. I can find the best choice for you and your playing style, including your experience and preferences. Also on the lessons I'm putting a lot of value to strategic and calculation skills, to be sure that the studying process is going well from every side of chess. And if you have some topics, which you'd like to study - we'll do this without any hesitations.
Preparation during the tournaments is also my great skill. I can easily find the weak sides of your opponent, his weak openings and how is better to outplay him.
And for the last, chess is a sport and psychology is really important here. I can help you to get confidence in chess, provide you a mentoring during tournaments and etc.
