About Jamila
School can be incredibly stressful, but our space together doesn't have to be. I pride myself in creating a warm and approachable atmosphere that is tailored to your individual needs, while holding you accountable and supporting you to be the best version of yourself. I know what it takes to be a working writer, not just in theory, but in practice. While other tutors might just help you ace the immediate test in front of you, it's also my goal to set you up for the real world by passing on insider knowledge and industry insights. Whether you want to become a writer or filmmaker, or are just looking to strengthen your writing abilities, I'm excited to help you on your writing journey!

My teaching methodology uses a combination of test and project-based support, while also providing new materials and hands-on activities that strengthen my students' skills — so that they are able to excel in the classroom and in the real world. A typical lesson plan would look at my students' workload, projects and homework, and identify potential areas for support. I then proceed in coaching my student through their areas of improvement, both by analyzing work with them and assigning new work to hone their skills. I'm a firm believer that learning should be engaging, interactive and memorable. Outside of your typical academic tutoring, we will look to film, television and media through the lens of interactive learning.
