About Jess
Hello, I’m Jess. I hold a First-Class degree in Chemistry from the University of Warwick and have over six years of experience in analytical and professional roles, most recently at the University of Cambridge.
Throughout my academic and professional career, I have developed strong quantitative, analytical and communication skills. Maths and Chemistry have always been subjects I enjoyed, and I find it rewarding to help students build both their understanding and confidence in these areas. I also appreciate that every student learns differently. Some students need support building confidence in the fundamentals, while others are aiming for top grades and want to refine their exam technique.
My aim is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their understanding and reaching their full potential. My professional background has involved analysing complex information, solving challenging problems and communicating technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences. I bring the same structured and patient approach to tutoring, helping students understand not just how to answer questions, but why the methods work. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy tennis, readingand travelling. I believe that confidence, curiosity and resilience are just as important as academic ability, and I aim to help students develop these qualities alongside their subject knowledge.

My approach is to build a strong understanding of the underlying concepts before focusing on exam technique and practice questions. I tailor lessons to each student's needs, whether they are looking to improve confidence, strengthen their understanding of specific topics or achieve a particular target grade.
Having worked for over six years in analytical and quantitative professional roles, I am experienced at breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable steps. I encourage students to explain their thinking, identify any gaps in understanding and develop effective problem-solving techniques rather than simply memorising methods.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are delivered online on a one-to-one basis. A typical lesson will include a review of previous material, teaching of new concepts, worked examples and exam-style questions to reinforce learning.
I hold a First Class Chemistry degree from the University of Warwick. I have extensive experience mentoring colleagues and communicating technical concepts to a range of audiences, including tutoring to GCSE level students whilst I was a University student.
I offer tuition in GCSE Maths and GCSE Chemistry, as well as support for Key Stage 3 Maths and Science. Lessons are suitable for students of all abilities, from those looking to build confidence in the subject to those aiming for the highest grades.
