My theory-oriented approach is based in learning the skills to play in conjunction with learning the recognition of the building blocks of music. Through this approach, we can build a musical understanding that surpasses mere recitation of pieces, but allows students to compose, improvise, accompany, and perform at advanced level in any genre.
