About Will
I’m a jazz pianist and graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where I completed a master’s degree in jazz performance. I’m an active performer in several groups, playing across Wales and England. I love helping students of all ages build confidence, develop their musical ears, and discover the joy of creative playing. In a former life, I worked as a qualified aerospace engineer—which means I bring a methodical, analytical approach to teaching music. I particularly enjoy helping students understand how music works —and why it sounds good—which is crucial to developing improvisational freedom. My background combines classical training, in-depth jazz study, and real-world gig experience, which allows me to teach in a flexible, down-to-earth way. Whether you're aiming to improvise, deepen your theory knowledge, or just enjoy learning music you love, I’ll tailor lessons to suit your goals and pace.

I offer relaxed, engaging jazz piano lessons tailored to each student’s needs—whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding of harmony, improvisation, or theory. I put a strong focus on playing by ear, building a solid musical foundation, and making music feel intuitive and fun. Lessons can include: Learning songs by ear Exploring jazz harmony and chord voicings Improvisation and creative playing Understanding theory in a practical, applied way Developing rhythm, groove, and musical confidence Whether you're an adult returning to the piano or a young beginner just getting started, I aim to make lessons enjoyable, challenging, and full of music that feels good to play.
