My teaching method, technique, and lesson plan:
We can meet in a series of sessions or one-off, face-to-face at Washington, DC libraries or online to address areas of concern or interest. Learners can be just about anyone, from middle school students to adults. The lesson plan will be based on needs and desires.
What sets me apart:
As Writer in Residence with a technology justice project at Princeton University, I led a cohort of undergrad students through a series of workshops focused on creative writing with elements of self-editing, ultimately producing several pieces pending publication.
Below are comments from the department head at Princeton, a renowned NYT bestselling author.
“From the stories sent over, there were some that were more scholarly in nature, others that were more personal essays, and others that were fiction. We are very impressed with the deeply personal nature of each of the pieces (…).
The essays display a critical approach to tech justice wrapped in the intimate lives of the students’ struggles with mental health, racism, and more. This wide range of styles is exciting, and we can only imagine how challenging it must have been to (work with) such different pieces. Thank you for holding space for the students to display this vulnerability.”
