About Deyu
Hi there, my name is Deyu. I’m currently studying Computer Science at King’s College London. My love of mathematics began at a very young age and hope to instil this passion in my students. To me, maths is about critical problem-solving skills, instead of rote learning and memorizing formulas.
I still have fond memories of taking a lot of additional tutoring myself during my school life, doing past materials across many syllabi to consolidate my knowledge, and now I want to impart all those hours of hard work to my students, avoiding the mistakes that I made, and focusing on what works to not only achieve the best possible marks but also to develop a joy of mathematics and succeed in your future academic journey – whatever path you choose to take.

I’m attentive, approachable and patient. I’d like to help students of all backgrounds and abilities, wherever your gaps in maths might be. I intend to make the lessons fun, engaging and rewarding. I deliver the lessons with enthusiasm. I’ll tailor my teaching styles to fit your needs. My approach is to teach those difficult topics, and then use more challenging questions from past papers and other resources to ensure the students are well prepared, boost their confidence and get the best possible marks in the exam.
Lessons are conducted online; I’ll demonstrate the working-outs on a piece of paper using a webcam. Whether it is algebra, geometry or critical maths problem solving, I’ll be giving a very detailed explanation of the methodology as I’m writing out the answers. It’ll be like we’re having an in-person session.
I have had about 2 years of tutoring in middle school, I was always ahead in maths, so I would teach my peers and later lower year group, students. All my students have had positive experiences and have made noticeable progress and consolidated previously difficult topics. I’m new to tutoring outside the school environment, but I will surely bring the same enthusiasm and passion as I had then.
