About Karla
I am currently a year 12 Student at KingsWay school with an education in the NCEA curriculum of New Zealand (from year 1 to NCEA level 1). I have prior experience in tutoring Year 8 math and am eager to grow in my adaptability to teaching students of other ages. I am flexible and punctual and as an avid learner myself, I am always on the hunt for new skills to dive into and master.

My approach to tutoring is personal and tailored to each individual. Depending on how a student learns (through images, words, touch, etc.), I will help them to better understand topics by using techniques that align with this and help them succeed the most. I can help students achieve their academic goals and build relationships with them. My patience and strengths in positivity and organizing help me to encourage students and keep them up to date. I will give students homework to complete before each lesson. I start lessons with a quick 5 minute warmup to practice basic facts or questions to practice the topic we are covering. I let the student guide me to what they are currently learning and struggling with in order to create a secure foundation to build on for their future learning to help them succeed and feel confident in their abilities.
