About Von
My name is Von Sims and I am Teacher of English by trade.
I have multiple years of teaching experience at secondary school level, and tutor at university level. I am qualified as TEFL instructor and have a love of sport especially Rugby.
I have worked with teenagers for the last five years in a professional capacity as an educator, mentor and sports coach.
Through my passion for training and education I have successfully helped others in achieving their goals by them passing their GCSE's.
After a few weeks of tutoring you will start to discover the fundamentals of the subject, and on average should see your grade increase of at least 2-3 levels within the first four weeks. There is no magic involved, it requires engagement, hard work and resilience.

My techniques and teaching methodology is based in pedagogy and research. I have also had multiple years of experience in teaching at secondary school level, using various and adaptive teaching and learning strategies including traditional methods combined with online/technological advances to make my lessons accessible, fun and effective.
Typical length of a lesson would 45-60min. I usually take 10 minutes at the end for feedback and marking any written work. Therefore 60 min session would last 50 min plus 10 for feedback.
I have a bachelor's in Education with a focus on language devolvement, acquisition and literature analysis. I have experience as a tutor at university level (being employed by the university) as well as primary and secondary school level. I am also able to assist with gaining a Functional Skills level 2 qualification, as well as having accreditation as Teacher of English as Foreign/Second Language (TEFL/TESL)
My lessons are aimed at students who want to gain their English language and literature qualifications at GCSE level (ages 15-17). I am also available for mature students who wish to obtain Functional Skills qualification (ages 18+), and I can adapt my lessons for younger students who study English as foreign/second language (ages:7-14)
