Hi all! My name is Selena. I graduated in 2014 with a 98.35 ATAR (verified) and am currently completing a combined Law/International Studies degree at UNSW. I also have two years of professional experience as a tutor.
As a tutor, my main objective is to help you to develop the necessary knowledge base and skills that you will need in order to achieve your desired academic goals, whatever they may be. I prefer to adopt a flexible teaching style that can be tailored to your specific learning styles and preferences. Ultimately, these sessions are for your benefit and you should have the ability to decide how the time is used and structured.
I generally find it wise to spend either the first or last 15 minutes of a class reviewing questions that have come up during school, in homework or in a practise paper. The rest of the lesson can then be spent in any way that you find most conducive to your learning. I have had students who prefer to use sessions to learn new modules ahead of their normal classes, others who preferred to spend the time completing homework, writing essays or undertaking practise exams.
