About Philip
As a lecturer that is also in substantive legal practice, I incorporate practical knowledge, examples and scenarios into my teaching. Giving students an enhanced experience. By allowing students to gain practical awareness alongside their academic and theoretical knowledge allows them to embed their learning in context. Thus, making them better lawyers.
My dialogic teaching methodology allows students to engage in a meaningful discussion to deepen their understanding and awareness of both the technical law and the procedure surrounding it. Whilst legal subject matter is often complex and can be confusing upon first reading, when students are exposed to dialogic methods – their understanding progresses from surface knowledge to a broad and deepened contextual understanding.
Throughout my teaching, I employ a range of techniques; most of those aforementioned techniques are student focused and always student led. I form a cooperative relationship with learners under my charge, allowing them to relinquish the outmoded ‘lecturer-student’ model of learning, thereby, allowing them to adopt an approach of collective knowledge sharing . This approach has proved, throughout my time teaching to be effective. Indeed, students regularly comment on the effectiveness and the efficiency of this tool.
