About Tia
Hi, I’m Tia! I’m a first-year law student at Northumbria University here in Newcastle, and I tutor GCSE Combined Science on the side because, honestly, it’s the part of my week I look forward to most.
I’ve always been someone who likes being involved and having a bit of a challenge on the go. Alongside my sixth form studies I was a Student President, I create content on the side, and I’m currently a semi-finalist for Miss Newcastle England 2026, where my campaign is all about equal access to education and careers. I mention that not to show off, but because a lot of what I care about is helping young people feel like doing well is genuinely within their reach, whatever their starting point.
I think that’s what makes me a decent tutor. I’m patient, I don’t judge, and I don’t do the intimidating “why don’t you already know this” thing. I sat my own GCSEs recently enough to remember how stressful it all felt, and I know that most students aren’t struggling because they’re not clever, they’re struggling because no one’s explained it in a way that clicks for them yet.
Outside of science and law, I’m into fashion, beauty and all things creative, so I promise I’m easy to talk to and not just a textbook with a face. If you’re after someone friendly, reliable and actually invested in you doing well, I’d love to help.

I teach GCSE AQA Combined Science (biology, chemistry and physics), with sessions available online.
I sat these exams myself pretty recently, so I still remember exactly which topics feel impossible the first time round (moles and the required practicals, I’m looking at you). That’s really what shapes the way I teach. I know the AQA spec properly, so instead of just re-reading the textbook at you, I focus on what actually comes up in the exam and how the mark schemes want you to phrase your answers.
My lessons are pretty relaxed. We usually start by working out what’s not making sense, go through it together with plenty of examples, then practise on real exam questions so you can feel it sticking. I’d much rather you talk through your thinking out loud than sit there quietly nodding along, because that’s when I can actually spot the gaps and fix them.
I’m now studying law at Northumbria, so I completely understand the pressure of needing certain grades for whatever comes next. Whether you’re chasing a grade 9 or just want to walk into the exam hall without your stomach in knots, I’ll work at your pace and keep things friendly. I really believe science makes far more sense once you’re not worried about asking a “silly” question.
