About Tolu
After overachieving in my GCSE results, I spent over 5 years tutoring students in a variety of subjects but have been focussing mainly on French of late because it is in my blood: my maternal grandparents are both fluent, as well as my mother, and I have been speaking it my whole life because I lived in Senegal from 6 months to 2 years old (selon ma mère, 'avion' était mon première mot).
I studied French from primary school through to university, so I'm very well versed in the academic side of the language and have the qualifications to prove it (from GCSE to Bachelor's degree). I also spent 1 year living and studying in Lyon, as well as 2 weeks working in Lille, so I have a good command of the everyday use of the language.

I teach French by understanding what topics you are interested in as a student and then using that as the framework for teaching an aspect of the language e.g. if you like football, we would explore texts discussing potential transfers in order to study the future and conditional tenses.
I believe engaging in this method helps with retention of the grammatical aspects of the language, which can be very tricky to understand at first, but also happens to be my specialty. Additionally, I will also teach you how to actually apply your academic knowledge in real life, giving you colloquial phrases that youre more likely to hear.
