My first approach is to test the skill level of my mentee. After which I give a complete tour off the application to be used. Then followed with generic knowledge on all the tools on the application.
When all this is done I then introduce the course outline(which contains practicals on each topic) for the next couple weeks so we know the direction we are headed. Practice makes perfect so there's going to be a very interactive practical class.
