About Erika
Hi, I’m Erika! I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Biology and have extensive experience teaching science to students of all ages. I specialize in test preparation and scientific writing, including literature reviews and lab reports. I have over five years of experience teaching and tutoring biology, working with students from elementary school through the undergraduate level. My background includes one-on-one tutoring as well as classroom instruction as a teaching assistant and a biology instructor responsible for assigning and grading coursework. I’ve helped students prepare for high school and college exams, strengthen their study skills, and gain confidence in their understanding of biology. In addition to teaching, I bring professional experience as a biological researcher and writer. This allows me to guide students not only in mastering course material but also in developing strong scientific writing skills. Above all, my goal is to create a supportive learning environment where you feel confident, prepared, and capable of tackling biology—whether you’re aiming to boost your test scores, improve your writing, or simply make sense of challenging concepts.

My goal is to help you feel confident and prepared in biology. In our sessions, we’ll focus on your specific needs…whether that’s getting ready for an upcoming quiz, strengthening a lab report, or tackling a challenging concept. I’ll create a clear plan for each lesson so you leave with strategies you can apply on your own, building long-term skills instead of quick fixes.
If you’re struggling to understand tricky topics like meiosis or fungal lifecycles, or if you find yourself missing points on exams without knowing why, I can help. Together, we’ll build study skills that help you truly learn the material—not just memorize it. And if you need support with scientific writing, we can workshop your lab reports and literature reviews to strengthen your arguments, structure, and use of sources.
