About Seán
**My teaching methods**
Having learnt several languages myself and taught more than 50 students across Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, I understand that everyone learns differently. My aim is to make Italian enjoyable, accessible and rewarding, while helping you make real progress towards your goals.
**1. Lessons tailored to you**
Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for an exam or looking to improve your conversational Italian, I'll adapt our lessons to your level, interests and learning objectives. We'll identify what you find challenging and work through it step by step.
**2. Grammar made simple**
Grammar and verb conjugations can seem intimidating at first, but they become much easier when you understand the patterns behind them. I'll break down complicated concepts into manageable steps, using clear explanations and practical examples to help you understand how Italian works.
**3. Conversation and practical Italian**
I believe that speaking and listening are essential to learning a language. We'll practise using Italian in realistic situations, develop your vocabulary and work on your pronunciation and fluency. The goal is not just to learn Italian from a textbook, but to feel confident actually using it!
**4. A relaxed and supportive environment**
Making mistakes is a natural part of learning. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, trying new expressions and speaking Italian without worrying about getting everything perfect. Having learnt several languages myself, I know how important it is to build confidence and stay motivated.
**5. Making progress together**
We'll regularly review what you've learnt, reinforce your understanding and gradually build on your existing knowledge. Whether your goal is to improve your grades, prepare for a holiday in Italy or communicate more confidently with Italian speakers, we'll work together to help you get there.

Ciao a tutti! My name is Seán, and I'm a language enthusiast studying International Politics and French at the University of Bath.
My passion for languages began when my family moved from London to Madrid when I was ten. Having arrived speaking only English, I spent eight years in Spain learning Spanish and becoming fluent. Since then, I've continued exploring other languages, including French, Italian, Portuguese and Haitian Creole.
I studied Italian during my year abroad in Paris last year and have also worked for many years in Italian restaurants!
As someone who has learnt several languages myself, I understand the challenges of learning a new language, from getting to grips with grammar and verb conjugations to building the confidence to speak naturally. I believe that making mistakes is an essential part of the process, and I want to help my students feel comfortable practising and improving at their own pace.
I've taught more than 50 students across Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, and I genuinely enjoy sharing my passion for languages and cultures with others.
Whether you're learning Italian from scratch, preparing for exams, planning a trip to Italy or simply wanting to have a conversation over an espresso, I'd love to help you achieve your goals!
