About Chang
Hello! I’m Nancy Liu (刘畅), a native Chinese speaker originally from China and living in Canada since 2004. Cantonese is my mother tongue, and I also speak Mandarin fluently as the official language. I’ve always loved the Chinese language—not just for communication, but for its beauty, depth, and cultural richness. I write and recite classical Chinese poetry, enjoy writing essays and stories, and love helping others explore Chinese through culture and context. Whether you're a complete beginner, brushing up your skills, or looking to connect deeper with Chinese culture, I’ll tailor each session to your needs and goals. You’ll learn not just vocabulary and grammar, but how to express yourself naturally in real-life situations. I bring in Chinese stories, classical poetry, and cultural notes to keep the learning experience rich and authentic. We’ll practice: Everyday conversations for real-life use Reading and writing (including essays or storytelling) Chinese idioms and cultural references Optional: classical Chinese poetry reading or recitation Lessons are available in Mandarin or Cantonese, and I welcome learners of all ages—including heritage learners or families raising bilingual children. I offer flexible options to meet different learning needs—whether you prefer to study online, in person, or with a friend! First Hour Free! Your first lesson (1 hour) is completely free—a chance for us to get to know each other, understand your goals, and explore how I can best support your learning journey. One-on-One Lessons: Online lessons: $15/hour In-person at a public place: $28/hour + travel fee (Travel fee is usually $27; may vary depending on distance. A minimum 1.5–2 hour booking is preferred for in-person visits.) Small Group Lessons (2 Students): Online: $25/hour total ($12.50 each) In-person: $45/hour total ($22.50 each) Learning with a friend or sibling can be fun, interactive, and more motivating! Discounts available for pre-paid packages or ongoing weekly lessons. Let's chat and customize a plan that fits your schedule and goals!
