About Diego
Hi! My name is Diego Borges. I’m from Brazil and I live in a beautiful city called Florianópolis. I started studying the keyboard in my hometown when I was 11 years old, played at church since 15, and gave private lessons since 17.
I moved to Florianópolis to study piano at Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, where I also participated as a researcher in the field of piano learning strategies. During one of the semesters, I was granted a scholarship to study at Morehead State University, in Morehead, Kentucky, U.S.A. My final paper was about harmonic dualism. After I graduated from college, I kept giving private lessons in local music schools, when I was selected to work as a keyboard teacher at SESC, a social and educational institution that provides benefits for commercial workers and their families. After 2 years of group teaching and personal growth, I returned to give private lessons but this time as a freelancer.
I currently work at home as an online tutor, go to my students’ houses for private lessons, and also accompany a choir focusing on traditional music sung in German.

Students of all ages and levels are welcome! You can start from scratch and acquire the skills to read and play simple melodies from popular songs, direct your focus to more challenging works by classical composers, or dive into the complex harmonies of jazz and bossa nova.
Each online private lesson has a duration of 1 hour. During that time, we can include the following activities depending on your current needs:
- Developing the piano technique
- Learning, improving or practicing musical concepts
- Working on a piece of music (chosen by the tutor or previously suggested by the student)
Additionally, if you wish to sing Brazilian music while you play, I can help you hone your pronunciation skills.
