About Tess
I teach guitar while actively composing and performing. With 7 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Composition (Guitar Emphasis), I provide structured and creative lessons. My specialty is classical and fingerstyle guitar performance. I enjoy guiding students of all levels.
Music should be understood as well as played. Beginners learn strong foundations, while advanced students refine nuance and articulation. I include theory naturally within lessons.
Students learn repertoire and expressive techniques. I encourage thoughtful practice habits. My goal is lifelong musical enjoyment.

I teach guitar by building a strong base first. Students learn timing, rhythm control, and tone production. Comfort with the instrument is important.
After that we explore many genres. Funk rhythm, metal riffs, country picking, and jazz chords are all introduced. Students learn how technique changes depending on the style. We practice groove, dynamics, and feel. Understanding style improves musical expression.
I support both high-energy players and detail-oriented learners. I help them discover new ways to use the guitar. Lessons include listening and song analysis. Musical awareness grows steadily. Playing becomes more creative.
