About Douglas
I am a professional tutor. I lived and taught in Japan for 15 years. After that, I tutored another 15 years in New Zealand and Australia. My wife is Japanese, as is our family. We regularly visit friends and relatives in Japan. I enjoy watching rugby and helping professional sportspeople and their families prepare for their new life in Japan.

My teaching method is Direct Instruction via Skype. All lessons follow a logical order. Each lesson reviews parts of previous lessons. Everything you learn is used in later lessons. Nothing is wasted. This helps your memory grow quickly and naturally. I show lots of pictures which we talk about. We also use actions and talk about those, so you’re not just sitting still. Your Japanese communication grows fast.
