Find your violin teacher in Downtown Core

It can be done, although the violin is unforgiving when nobody is checking your technique.

• Intonation: there are no frets to guide you, so pitch accuracy takes trained listening.
• Bow hold: a relaxed, balanced grip shapes your tone far more than beginners expect.
• Posture: poor posture quickly leads to sore shoulders and limits your progress.
• Feedback: recordings help, yet they rarely spot a collapsed wrist or a crooked bow.

A private tutor corrects bad habits early, so you progress faster and enjoy playing sooner.

In Downtown Core, expect to pay about S$62/h for a violin lesson.

Several factors influence the price:

• Level: the ABRSM grade you are working towards
• Experience: the instructor's credentials, such as orchestra or other stage experience
• Schedule: the number of lessons booked
• Format: in-person lessons or video calls

Many tutors offer package discounts for booking multiple lessons.

Starting at 25 is perfectly realistic if you practise regularly and stay patient.

• Focus: adults usually know why they practise, which keeps motivation high.
• Regular practice: short daily sessions build muscle memory more effectively than occasional marathons.
• Realistic milestones: ABRSM Grade 1 is a reachable first goal for motivated adults.
• Ear training: singing or humming melodies first makes notes easier to find on the fingerboard.

A private tutor builds a plan around your schedule, goals and favourite music.
