I have just finished my A levels and am to go to university and have been tutoring family friends during my gap year. I have achieved A*s for both English Literature and English Language at IGCSE level, as well as a B in A Level English Literature.

I base my teaching heavily around the mark schemes provided by the examaination boards in order to ensure that my pupil will be able to gain as many marks as possible. I aim to start small, for example by rectifying any smaller issues a student may have, such as repeatedly making grammatical errors which unnecessarily cost them marks.
Providing examples of essays that achieve high marks and then taking a student through it step by step, helping them identify ways in which they can improve their own work, is another approach that I like to take and have found very effective in improving their overall marks.
I always ensure to adjust the pace and level of my tutoring according to the needs of my pupil and also try to receive as much feedback from them as possible, so that I may be able to adapt to their own learning preferences.
