About Haydon
Hi, I'm Haydon, and from a very young age I've had an interest in technology. I joined a University Technical College (UTC) for my GCSE years where I specialised in computer science & IT very early on. I've achieved A's and Level 2 Distinctions across the board in all of my Computer Science, IT, and related qualifications. I now tutor these subjects to work in conjunction with a school curriculum, as from my own experience occasionally lessons in school can get off track, or move at too slow a pace. My sessions are designed to fill this gap, and I'll be asking my students what it is they want to study and tailor their sessions accordingly. Not only have I achieved academic results in these fields, but I have a lot of personal experience with computer skills such as programming (Python, C/C#/C++), networking, operating systems, and low-level understanding such as binary and logic. I've participated in events known as "game jams", where hobbyist game developers come together alone or as a group to make a game from scratch in a specified time-frame (and sometimes to a specified theme), and had my projects scored rather highly. I've got strong personal experience in programming and low-level computer architecture, I've been using an operating system known as Linux for the best part of 5 years now, this has taught me invaluable knowledge of computer architecture, and how software and hardware communicate. I aim to make my sessions as interesting as possible, I appreciate computer science can be "dry" at times and occasionally this is unavoidable, but I do try my absolute hardest to make every subject entertaining, and rewarding to learn by providing students projects that they can complete in their own time should they wish to.

I approach tutoring very bespokely per student, during our first session we'll establish what subject areas you want to work on, and I'll prepare later sessions to target that specific area. I aim to be very relaxed during my sessions, as I believe that if you are comfortable you'll learn better and I'll teach more articulately. We can move at any pace, can go back over some material if you don't quite understand. I'll always try and get you to answer a question yourself before telling you the answer, as this builds deeper understanding rather than just knowledge. Our session lengths can vary, but expect to be maybe an hour or more. I'll incorporate short breaks so as not to overload you with information, and to get you re-energised and ready to learn. My sessions are for GCSE Computer Science, I achieved an A in my paper with OCR.
