About Frances
My background bridges the worlds of professional communications and editing, and classroom education at the secondary and college level.
When I was in grad school at the UC Berkeley School of Education, I trained as a tutor for Cal's college athletes. I was known as the "thesis whisperer" for my ability to connect with students who'd given up. Together we'd work on both their motivation and their writing and thinking skills to get them moving forward, feeling positive, and through the finish line.
I've been a writer and editor for newspapers, books, and for the last ten years, as a writer-researcher at a national education research agency. Here I specialized in translating the dry language of research into work that was pleasant and accessible to read.
