About Shauntay
I bring four years of experience in classroom settings, including internships, assistant teaching, and general education teaching, working with students across a wide range of ages, from toddlers to elementary-level learners. My background includes teaching in both private and public schools, as well as providing private childcare and tutoring for preschool-aged children to elementary-aged children.
I am committed to building strong, positive relationships with students, as I believe trust and connection form the foundation for academic growth. By creating a supportive and low-pressure learning environment, I help students feel comfortable, confident, and motivated to succeed. I use a teaching approach that blends exploration with direct instruction. This means I first give students the chance to discover concepts on their own before stepping in to guide them. When children feel they are in charge of their learning, they gain confidence and develop a deeper understanding.
In math, I make learning engaging by using hands-on manipulatives, interactive games, and stories that bring concepts to life. For reading, I spark curiosity through open-ended questions, discussions, and activities that help students think critically while building strong literacy skills. My goal is to create an environment where learning feels exciting, supportive, and meaningful.
