About Mikayla
Hi there, I'm Mikayla. I’m a lifelong artist with a deep passion for creativity and a love for the world around us. From the vibrant colors and textures of nature to the rich stories in history, the rhythms of music, and to the joy that travel and food brings, I find inspiration in everything—and I bring that energy into my teaching. I found my escape, my safe space and myself in art when I wasn't the best at other things in school, and I believe that art is not just about creating something beautiful; it’s about the process of expressing who you are and exploring the connections between ourselves and the universe. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s unique strengths and interests. Whether you’re just beginning your artistic journey or looking to take your skills to the next level, I’m here to guide you with personalized lessons and a supportive approach. Teaching Method and Techniques
I take a hands-on, process-oriented approach to teaching art, focusing on exploration and self-expression. My lessons are tailored to each student's unique interests, skill level, and goals. I integrate foundational skills like drawing and painting with opportunities for experimentation in various mediums such as collage, digital art, sculpture etc. I encourage students to keep a sketchbook as a tool for practice and personal growth.
A Typical Lesson Plan
