About Elish
I am a second year undergraduate student studying Linguistics and Spanish at Manchester Metropolitan University. Linguistics is the scientific study of language and the structure of language. It includes the analysation of grammar, syntax, semantics and phonetics. I am skilled in creative writing, critical analysis and critical writing which I have used in assignments for both linguistics and Spanish. I have previously volunteered as a peer tutor to help secondary school children who struggle with writing, reading and numeracy. I focused on improving their confidence as well as their skills in these areas. I have also volunteered in a children's special needs school helping children and young teenagers with disabilities to improve their reading skills.

My teaching methods differ depending on the student's needs, strengths, weaknesses, expectations and goals. Each child is unique therefore teaching methods will vary depending on the child. GCSE students will be taught how to effectively read and analyse a range of texts, both fiction and non-fiction, I will encourage tutees to be critical when reading and writing as this is a skill which they Can and will use throughout their school years and in further education. I will teach them to write in such a way that they will also become confident and creative communicators. We will discuss tasks and answer any questions or queries. I will be open to listen about any stresses or worries they might have and will act as a helping hand to ensure every student can write confidently to a high standard.
