About Des
I love English, I love people and I love teaching. I have been teaching English since 2007 and this inspired me to do a master's in English Language in Edinburgh Uni. I came home to do a PhD in Trinity College Dublin where I tried to understand why English spelling is so complicated. Throughout this time I taught English to all levels, from beginner to advanced, and to incoming university students. In 2019 I learned to code and from 2020-24 my job was to make the voices for Apple's Siri and to make the world's most famous robot speak English correctly. But coding all day doesn't suit me. Teaching does and I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story and dreams.

I teach all levels ages from beginner to advanced, while for proficient speakers I will create lessons targeted to your personal needs. Age 16+
Classes will involve a lot of speaking but I place huge emphasis on writing and pronunciation, and we will build towards these two difficult skills.
Classes will be for 1hr but can be lengthened as needed.
I have taught English since 2007, to all levels, including university students and academics. I have a Masters & PhD in Linguistics with special focus on spelling, pronunciation, accents and the history of English.
