About Jacqi
Hello! My name is Jacqi, and I am your local zookeeper turned educator. My career requires teaching people of all ages, abilities, and level of interest over a wide variety of subjects with and without a classroom. With over 10 years of experience tutoring math and science, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students across a wide range of ages and learning styles. My background also includes three years as a biology teaching assistant at the college level, where I supported students through complex topics in lectures, labs, and one-on-one sessions. These experiences have deepened my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly and adapt to each student’s needs. I also spent several years on and off in zoos working as a summer camp instructor, science interpreter and conservation education interpreter. I also love traveling, hiking, reading, napping with my Great Dane, and a good old game night.

My tutoring approach begins with identifying how each student learns best—whether visually, verbally, or through hands-on practice. From there, I guide them through problems step by step, ensuring they not only find the right answers but also build confidence in the process. I support students with their current assignments and can create additional practice questions as needed to reinforce key concepts and encourage long-term growth. My goal is to help students become independent learners who feel empowered in their academic journey.
