About Kelly

I am enthusiastic about sharing my love of art with others and hope to discover more throughout the process of teaching whilst building my own practice. I am open to students of all ages. My teaching method is focused on both the thinking and the creative processes. It is important to identify the best individual approach for the students, in order to help them to enjoy art making and get inspired. As for me, I completed a BFA in sculpture and fine art from the School of Art Institute of Chicago and completed a MA degree in Jewellery and Metal at the Royal College of Art. I have a multicultural background: I was born in Canton, China. I lived in the U.S for eight years and three years in the U.K. I am bi-lingual: I can speak fluently in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. I love travelling and exploring nature. This has given me expansive cultural experience, enriching my knowledge of art. In my own practice, I’m a fine artist who works with materials, objects and images. I am also a designer and jewellery maker. My works have been exhibited both in UK, and internationally, including Germany, the United States and China. Please note my fee p/h is based on 1 to 1 tuition basis. The minimum class time is 2 hours. If I have to travel to you and it takes me over 30 min, I might charge a travel time fee. Don't hesitate to message me to discuss your options. University : - School of Art Institute of Chicago - Bachelor of Fine Art - Royal College of Art - Master of Art Prizes and Scholarships : The National Justice Museum Prize, 2019 School of Art Institute of Chicago -Merit Scholarship, 2011-2015 Walnut Hill School for the Arts -Half price Scholarship, 2009-2011

Kelly is a talented artist and a patient teacher. She helped me develop my understanding of a wide range of artistic techniques as well as exploring more conceptual ideas. She was always passionate about the subject whilst making sure she did not overcomplicate things, making it easy for somebody with less experience to understand.
My practical skills came on leaps on bounds after working with Kelly and I had a new perspective on how I can create meaning with my artwork. I would recommend Kelly to anyone who wants to develop their skills and understanding of art-working.

I had the great oppourtunity to meet Kelly , when she was doing a master’s course at the Royal College of Art . We shared a love of making and art/design and I can easily say that she is one of the most passionate tutors I’ve met when it comes to Art.

Kelly did her Bachelors degree in the School of Art Institute of Chicago, qualifying in mediums such as Sculpture and Painting. Then completed an MA on Jewellery and Metalwork. She is a maker and a crafts person with an incredible eye for detail and great knowledge of art history and contemporary/modern art.

I think Kelly is very qualified to teach art because she has a lot of experience and many skills from sculpture making , drawing and jewelery and metalwork. It can additionally be said that she is a good communicator as she’s taken part in many one on one and group workshops. She would be happy to share her knowledge with people.
