In my 6 years of teaching guitar, I've come to realize that the most effective learning happens when students are actively engaged in the music they love. That's why I prioritize understanding each student's musical preferences and goals, using that information to guide our lessons. Whether it's a favorite song, a particular genre, or a specific guitar technique, I tailor our sessions to ensure that learning is both relevant and enjoyable. Technical skills such as proper posture, finger placement, and rhythmic accuracy are essential, but I believe they should always be taught in the context of real music. I integrate music theory into lessons in a way that is practical and easy to understand, showing students how concepts like chord progressions, scales, and rhythm patterns apply directly to the music they play.
