About Jorge
I teach guitar with the mindset of a mapmaker who still wants music to sound like music. I watch left-hand economy and right-hand time as closely as repertoire. When a concept does not stick, I redraw it: a simpler shape, a visual on the neck, a sung bass line, or a side-by-side comparison of two fingerings so you can feel which one stays free.
I am practical and lightly experimental in the lesson. You will try something, listen, adjust one variable, and try again. That keeps the room lively without turning it chaotic. Beginners feel guided; experienced players feel challenged to clean the habits that quietly limit them.
I avoid empty pep talks. Encouragement shows up as better tools—cleaner fingerings, clearer counting, a smaller loop that finally works. Independence matters to me: I want you able to learn songs at home without waiting for someone else to decode every chord.
Time with me feels clear and song-driven. You should expect fretboard logic that actually helps, patient fixes for stubborn chord changes, and a steady return from exercises into playing something you recognize and enjoy.

In my guitar lessons I turn the neck into something readable instead of a wall of dots. Early on, you learn small shapes and intervals you can shift—so a beginner’s first chords and a more advanced player’s modal ideas both grow from the same habit of seeing relationships. If a barre chord collapses when you change songs, we isolate the thumb and finger pressure, fix the failing fretting finger, then return to the progression. The point is not memorizing endless diagrams; it is recognizing patterns you can trust under your hands.
I treat hard spots as transitions, not as whole-song fog. You might loop only the change between two chords, slow the rhythm to expose which finger arrives late, or mute the strings and rehearse the left-hand shape until the landing is quiet and sure. Right-hand rhythm can be practiced on open strings while the left hand rests, then recombined—especially useful when strumming patterns fall apart only at song tempo. Improvisation, when you are ready for it, often starts with limits: three notes, one string, or one rhythmic cell—so choices stay deliberate instead of random.
Songs stay central. Technical work has to earn its place by showing up in music you care about in the same lesson. I might reduce a riff to its skeleton—root motion, chord outline, rhythmic hook—then rebuild ornamentation once the structure is solid. Children get short songs and clear physical cues; teens and adults can push into fingerstyle, lead lines, or harmony while still using movable patterns and honest isolation of weak changes.
Home practice follows a simple loop: name the sticky change, shrink it, prove it slowly, then plug it back into the song. Over time you stop guessing where notes live and start navigating with intention—whether you are forming open chords or finding melodic options across the neck.
