About Lydia
I am very passionate about biology as I am completing a second degree in it. I am the principal investigator for my research which means I organize and arrange all permits and sampling events as well as training for undergraduate students connected to the project. I also was one of the planners for the La SciComm Summit, a statewide conference in Louisiana for all STEM graduate students in 2024. I helped organize 12 workshops focused on developing skills in scientific communication. I am also the first fellow sponsored by both Louisiana SeaGrant (NOAA) and SpaceGrant (NASA) for my research, which I would not have received without a passionate proposal.

I always have the first lesson be getting to know all about the student and their strengths and weaknesses, as well as preferred teaching styles. I then cater my lessons to their preferences as closely as possible. My first belief is that as a teacher we must create a comfortable learning space and the student will gain confidence in their learning experience. I am comfortable teaching all ages from 10 - 60+. A typical lesson plan for me first involves: -a quick review of old information -a short introduction of the new topic with a quick activity -PowerPoint about topic with all critical information -quick quiz or other activity to review all important points -Short discussion on how this lesson relates to the next.
