A Typical Lesson Plan: Introduction to Chinese Greetings and Self-Introduction
Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to greet others in Chinese, introduce themselves, and engage in basic conversational exchanges.
Level: Beginner
Duration: 60 minutes
Materials:
Flashcards with relevant vocabulary
Audio and video clips for pronunciation practice
Handouts with dialogue exercises
Procedure:
Warm-up (5 minutes):
Engage the students in a short discussion about greetings in their own culture and the importance of greetings in Chinese culture.
Introduction to Greetings (15 minutes):
Present common greetings in Chinese, such as "你好!" (nǐ hǎo), "早上好!" (zǎo shàng hǎo), "晚上好!" (wǎn shàng hǎo), and "再见!" (zài jiàn).
Practice pronunciation using audio clips and encourage students to repeat after the audio.
Use flashcards to review the vocabulary and ensure understanding.
Self-Introduction (20 minutes):
Introduce phrases for self-introduction using funny videos from TikTok, such as "我叫[Name]" (wǒ jiào [Name]), "我来自[Country/Place]" (wǒ lái zì [Country/Place]), and "我是[Occupation]" (wǒ shì [Occupation]).
Model a self-introduction using my own name and background, and encourage students to do the same. Conduct activities where students practice introducing themselves.
Dialogue Practice (15 minutes):
Provide handouts with dialogue exercises for students to practice greetings and self-introductions.
Monitor progress and provide feedback on pronunciation and usage.
Wrap-up and Review (5 minutes):
