About Donte
I'm a passionate English educator with a Master's degree in Literature who believes every student has a unique voice waiting to be discovered. My journey into teaching began with my own transformative experience reading Maya Angelou in college, which showed me literature's power to change lives. I specialize in making complex texts accessible and exciting, whether we're exploring Shakespeare's timeless themes or analyzing contemporary voices. Beyond the classroom, I'm an avid reader who devours everything from graphic novels to classic poetry, and I love sharing book recommendations with my students. I'm also trained in resume writing and college application coaching, helping students translate their academic growth into real-world opportunities. My teaching philosophy centers on creating inclusive spaces where every interpretation matters and where students feel safe to take intellectual risks. When I'm not grading papers, you'll find me at local poetry readings, hiking with a book in my backpack, or experimenting with new ways to bring stories to life through technology and creative projects.
