About Jacob
I tutored my fellow students through all 4 years of my undergraduate years. Before entering graduate school, I taught Algebra and Pre-Algebra for a year, then was a Calculus teaching assistant for my 3 years of graduate school at Illinois. After obtaining my M.S. degree I taught freshman-level courses for a year in West Virginia. Years later I taught Algebra for a year as a full-time faculty member at a local university. I enjoy inventing amusing metaphors and applications to make the experience more enjoyable for both myself and my students.

I have taught adults of all ages, from 18 to 70. Most of the classes I taught were in-classroom courses for colleges in the Appalachian area of the United States. I often taught remedial courses to prepare new college students for 100-level courses. I have taught and/or tutored Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (derivatives and integrals), Trigonometry, Euclidean Geometry, Basic Computer Programming, Introductory Physics. Clearly communicating both concepts and methods from the course material is my greatest asset as an educator. Everyone willing deserves knowledge. Currently tutoring online remotely unless you live in southern West Virginia and prefer face-to-face.

I have never seen anyone more passionate about Mathematics and teaching. He makes sure all of his students understand the topic, which is quite rare from my experience. I wish when I had been in K-12, I had been fortunate enough to have Mathematics teachers who cared as much. Only one year did I have such a teacher, but by that point I had lost interest in Mathematics.
