About Gustavo
Hi! My name is Gustavo — I’m from Argentina and have been living in North America for the past four years. I completed a Master’s degree in the United States, where I honed my English skills (C1 level), and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Canada where I'm working on my French skills (currently at a B2 level). I’m a passionate language learner and educator who loves sharing my native language and culture. Over the years, I’ve helped students of all levels improve their Spanish — whether for travel, personal interest, or academic success at the high school and university level. I'm currently doing a PhD in volcanology — yes, I study active volcanoes! Outside of academics, I’m an adventurer at heart: I love traveling, exploring new cultures, and connecting with people from all over the world. I’m communicative, patient, and highly adaptable. I tailor my classes to each student’s needs and interests, because I truly believe that language learning should be a fun and meaningful experience. My teaching approach is fully student-centered, meaning I adapt every lesson to the student’s goals and interests. I adapt the study material and format to the student preferences, because learning is most effective (and enjoyable!) when the material is relevant to you! I use real-world materials (news, podcasts, songs, movies or series scenes, memes, etc.) and integrate them into interactive activities to make each lesson dynamic and meaningful. I always start by identifying the student's level, objectives and interests — for example, are you learning Spanish for travel? Academic reasons? Conversation? Certification? Then I tailor the content to match those needs. I focus on building a strong foundation in oral communication (speaking and listening), reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar and vocabulary in context. I also pay attention to accent and pronunciation, and give the student the choice to focus on a more neutral Spanish accent or on an Argentinian Spanish.
