About Catherine
I am a Spanish tutor with over 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of International Studies, majoring in Spanish with a focus on Latin American Studies. I bring Latin American cinema, music, and pop culture into my lessons to create a fun and immersive learning experience. Students explore song lyrics, movie dialogues, cultural references, and regional expressions to deepen their understanding of the language. This approach helps improve listening skills, comprehension, and vocabulary naturally. I believe that learning Spanish is more engaging when it connects to real-life culture and media. My lessons are designed to spark curiosity and make language learning enjoyable. Whether you love music, movies, or popular trends, we use these interests to make Spanish come alive. My teaching approach for Spanish focuses on creating a calm and supportive learning environment. I use mindfulness activities to help students feel relaxed and focused during lessons. Journaling in Spanish is an important part of my method, encouraging students to express their thoughts and emotions in their own time.
I place special attention on building emotional vocabulary, so students can communicate their feelings clearly and confidently. Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, allowing them to progress comfortably without pressure. I help newcomers and those adjusting to new cultures by making language learning practical and relevant.
Conversation practice is a key part of my teaching, helping students gain confidence in everyday situations. I use real-life scenarios to make learning meaningful and useful. My goal is to support students in becoming comfortable, fluent speakers who can express themselves naturally.
I believe learning a language should be enjoyable and personal. By combining mindfulness, journaling, and conversation, I help students develop both their skills and self-confidence. Together, we create a learning experience that is motivating and effective.
