About Sophie
Hi there! I'm Sophie, a Master's student in Education at Durham University. I'm delighted at the opportunity to be a part of your child's GCSE English journey, and to share in the excitement of their academic development and exam achievements.
I remember the pressure of my own GCSEs, where I achieved a Grade 9 in both English Literature and English Language, and carried my passion for Literature through to A Level. Now, after four years at university, I hope to pass on all that I have learned about studying, revising, and mentoring KS3 and KS4 students. I have experience teaching students across a range of subjects and ages, from 5 to 16, though my tutoring passion lies with GCSE English and mastering that crucial exam technique — something schools often do not have time to cover in depth.
My sessions are about far more than simply 'knowledge-dumping'. I know how important positive mentoring relationships can be in academia, so I hope to be more than a passive tutor. I aim to get to know what motivates your child and how their studies can be made relevant to their own unique interests and ambitions beyond the exams.

- Studying a Master's degree in Education means I am well placed to create engaging, effective, efficient tutoring sessions, based on best practice within Durham University's School of Education (top 5 nationally). Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences: First Class Hons.
