About Jake
After achieving scholarship physics and calculus in year 12, I ran after school workshops at my school to assist students preparing for the scholarship physics exam, which is where my passion for tutoring blossomed. I graduated Dux of Kristin School in 2018, completing the IB Diploma with a total score of 43 and achieving outstanding scholarships in Calculus and Physics. With a passion for mathematics and all things science, I completed a Bachelor's of Science (Advanced) with honors in mathematics at the Australian National University (ANU). Throughout my studies, I demonstrated for the ANU's discrete mathematics and first year linear algebra and real analysis courses. I am now completing a Master of Science in mathematics at the University of Auckland, where I am a graduate teaching assistant and maintain an 8.5 GPA. My research topic is in quantum information theory.

I offer a tailored approach. Some students have the motivation, but want to deepen their understanding. Others need to focus on the fundamentals and exam technique. I try to work with each person's strengths to realise their full potential. I complete my sessions with an electronic tablet and share pages with each student or parent. In addition to understanding what it takes to smash a STEM exam, I am open to accelerating interested students past the standard curriculum to cover mathematics and physics topics of their own interest. I am also familiar and can assist with formal academic report writing.
