About Stella
I am a violin tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Historical Performance specialising in Baroque Violin. My greatest joy is working with young children and introducing them to the violin through playful and engaging methods. I believe that music learning should feel like an adventure rather than a chore. To support this, I use storytelling, rhythm games, and movement activities to make lessons lively and interactive. Simple melodies become stepping stones for learning both technique and musicianship. Ear training and aural skills are central to my approach, as I want children to develop a strong musical ear from the start. I draw inspiration from both Suzuki and Kodály methods, blending their strengths to fit each child’s needs. In lessons, children sing, clap, and move before they play, helping them internalise rhythm and pitch. I encourage creativity by weaving imaginative stories into the music we practice. Each child learns at their own pace, supported with patience and positivity. I see progress not only in their playing but in their confidence and joy. My background in historical performance adds depth to my teaching, as I bring expressive phrasing and stylistic awareness even to beginner levels. Over the years, I’ve seen how these strategies make music accessible and fun. Together, we make violin learning an exciting journey. My goal is always to make music joyful, imaginative, and full of discovery.

My teaching approach is systematic and practical. I focus on building strong visual-to-finger coordination so that reading music becomes second nature. Lessons cover sight-reading, understanding ledger lines, and decoding complex rhythms step by step. I also train students to read multi-part scores with ease. Each session blends technical drills with real pieces to apply skills immediately. I encourage learners to see the page and translate it quickly into sound. This process builds confidence and speed over time. I specialise in supporting Musical Theatre Enthusiasts who want to pick up new pieces instantly. Worship Singers also benefit from refining their reading so they can confidently play in services. Exercises are tailored to each student’s level and goals. We move from simple reading tasks to advanced multi-line passages. Progress is steady and measurable, with each lesson reinforcing fluency. The goal is always the same: to make music reading effortless and empowering.
