About Matthew
I am a Graduate of Southampton University with a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. I have a diverse and rich range of experiences in teaching. From teaching A-Level Maths at home to teaching music and sports in Cameroon to large groups, I thrive on helping people learn, understand and achieve. From experience and general personality, I easily relate with students and can quickly understand and work on problem areas. This enables me to effectively establish a professional student-teacher relationship founded on mutual respect.

I help students understand maths at a more fundamental level instead of having them try to remember a series of steps or tricks at face value. This unlocks the higher grades and always increases their success rate. I employ a variety of techniques depending on each student and foster a professional relationship that helps students really engage and ask questions. I know the feeling of not wanting to ask questions in a class of 30 peers, so this is the perfect forum to ask away - and I always encourage students to do just that! I teach KS2 right through to A Level maths (Pure, Mechanics and Stats). Over the years teaching Maths, I have noticed several areas where students commonly struggle - this is due to how maths is taught in schools. Now, I can quickly address and fix these issues which not only helps the student during A-Levels, but also gives them a more solid foundation for University.
