About Oliver
I’m a Chemistry graduate with an integrated Master’s degree from the University of York, where I specialised in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry. During my degree I spent a year at the Institute of Science Tokyo, Japan, conducting independent research. Alongside my studies I also completed internships in computational chemistry, focusing on protein modelling and quantum chemistry projects. These experiences gave me not only technical expertise but also a deep appreciation of how science is learnt and applied in the real world. I want to tutor because I know how transformative a good teacher or mentor can be. Throughout my own academic journey, I often found that what made the difference was someone explaining a tricky concept in a new way, or showing me how ideas fit together rather than just presenting the facts. At the end of the day, the hardest thing about STEM is finding the way that makes the information click for you. Once that happens everything starts to fall into place. Tutoring allows me to be that guide for my students, to take the stress out of learning and help them find confidence in their own abilities. I tutor Chemistry and Biology up to A-level, Physics and Maths up to GCSE, and Primary English, as well as preparation for 11+ and 13+ exams. I enjoy working with students of all abilities: whether the aim is achieving top grades, closing gaps, or simply enjoying science a little more, I adapt my lessons to each learner.

Typical lesson length 30-60 minutes (can be negotiated) I tutor Chemistry and Biology up to A-level, Physics and Maths up to GCSE, Primary English, and provide support for 11+ and 13+ exam preparation My approach is supportive and adaptive, recognising that every student learns differently. Whether a pupil needs to strengthen core knowledge, develop analytical skills, or build exam confidence, I design lessons around their individual goals. I place a strong emphasis on clear explanations, structured practice, and breaking down complex topics into manageable steps, ensuring students feel encouraged rather than overwhelmed. I have previously tutored students at a high-achieving school in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths at both A-level and GCSE. In addition, I have supported university students in Computational Chemistry, helping them develop a deeper understanding of advanced concepts. I have also worked with students preparing for university, focusing on study skills, independent learning, and building their confidence.
