About Cecilia

Hello! My name is Ms. Cecilia Lovelace, and I am a mezzo-soprano currently finishing up my graduate degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Tennessee. As an active opera singer, I know firsthand what it takes to sing challenging music, get through tough auditions, and handle the demands of the stage. I bring that real-world experience directly into our lessons to help you build a voice that feels strong, healthy, and reliable.

My teaching style is direct, professional, and practical. While I keep our work focused and high-standard, I also make sure the studio is a relaxed place to learn. Singing can be intimidating, so it helps to have a low-stress environment. I look forward to working with you, building your technique, and helping you hit your goals with total confidence.

About the lesson

My approach is student-centered, anatomically grounded, and emotionally supportive. Singing is deeply personal, so I prioritize a healthy, sustainable technique rooted in functional vocal science to eliminate tension.

We will focus on posture alignment exercises, breath work, and targeted vocalises to establish range and resonance. As we work, we will break down repertoire to address specific vowel modifications, breath support, and registration. As we begin working on musical pieces, we will focus on dissecting text, differentiating foreign language nuances (Italian, French, German), and developing character intent.

As a current graduate student in vocal performance, I bring current audition standards directly into the studio. I bridge the gap between high-level historical research and practical performance choices, helping students make informed artistic decisions.

My target students are passionate beginners discovering their vocal foundation to advanced singers refining their craft. I have experience working with middle and high school students preparing for local production and college music program auditions. My specialties are voice, operatic role preparation, musical theatre audition technique, and advanced diction.
