About Mark
I recently graduated from UC San Diego and am pursuing a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, surfing, and playing soccer, which help me stay active and balanced outside of academics.
I’ve always enjoyed sharing my enthusiasm for subjects I care about, especially math. Tutoring has given me the opportunity to do that by helping students build confidence and develop a clearer understanding of challenging concepts in a supportive environment.

For the past two years, I’ve tutored algebra, precalculus, and calculus at UC San Diego, helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills and gain confidence in math. Before that, I worked as a peer tutor at Foothill College, supporting college students in their calculus courses. Tutoring has taught me how to explain challenging concepts in clear and approachable ways while adapting my teaching style to each student’s needs. One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is seeing students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics.
I recently graduated from UC San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics–Computer Science and Environmental Chemistry. Through my coursework in calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, statistics, algorithms, and mathematical modeling, I developed a strong analytical foundation and a deep appreciation for problem-solving. I enjoy helping students not only learn the material but also understand the reasoning behind it, so they can become more confident and independent learners.
