I'm a Year 10 student from The Mac.Robertson Girls' High School who has demonstrated academic excellence in Mathematics and English as well as in the Sciences such as Biology, Physics and Chemistry. I have tutored other students across the primary years all the way up until Year 7. My primary aim when tutoring is to boost confidence, understanding and good study habits in my students. I aim to guide students to the path of success and tell them things I wished someone would tell me.
My tutoring style is very patient and supportive of the student and takes into account the individual's preferred method of learning. Difficult concepts are broken down into simpler parts that can be understood. Concepts are explained by using examples, practice questions and techniques to encourage active recall of information. When teaching Mathematics I focus on problem-solving strategies and ensuring that foundations of knowledge are solid.
Lessons will usually last 60 minutes, but this time can be adjusted for individual needs. The typical structure of a lesson would include revising previous lessons and going through any problems that came up, teaching new concepts and answering questions, practicing through doing questions in class.
Though I am a student myself, being in a selective high school has helped me acquire many academic skills as well as good habits. Also, since I have recently completed the subjects, I understand how to effectively relate concepts to young students.
