About James
I have been tutoring math all through school, including during my time as a computer science student at McGill, where I focused on higher mathematics (set-theory, theory of computation, and calculus), while minoring in Literature. During my time as a tutor I've come to realize that not everyone cares about math as much as I do, and that the best thing a tutor can do for their students is to bridge their level of interest with the problem they're having. The problems are usually quite simple, but students need me to help them see the problem from another angle. Not everyone needs to understand everything about math, no one even can! So instead of proving that pi is irrational, I'd rather just show you how it's used to calculate the area of a circle; if that's all you need. I'm a seasoned tutor whose first priority is getting results. I understand that some students hate math, but have to do it anyways! My style of teaching seeks to unblock your mental blocks and train you to overcome hurdles, whether that be passing calculus, or finally understanding big O notation.
